I haven’t posted much about training or workouts lately. Ok, not at all. But that doesn’t mean I’m just sitting around playing on the computer all day. Ok, for the most part I am. BUT, I have been working out and focusing on getting fit and healthy with zero focus on running, because the former is more important to me right now.
I haven’t been tracking my workouts very well either, mostly because it’s kind of freestyle at the moment. Monday Wednesday and Friday are weights and cardio days. And Tuesdays and Thursdays? Those days are my favorite. I’ve been swimming. I love love love swimming laps. My endurance isn’t up real good right now, but I’m making gains and that feels great. It’s a lot like starting out running, you just do what you can and stick to it, and it gets better and better. My breathing is getting easier, my form is getting better and more relaxed. But best of all, I’m having fun, and it’s variety.
Now I just need a good bike, and I’ll be ready to tackle a triathlon. It is that easy right?
I still run on cardio days. The stinkin dreadmill is just a riot, but I’ve been doing some other things too, like the elliptical and the stair climber.

Christmas Eve Excitement

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this excited over Christmas. Have you ever bought someone something that you know will probably just send them right over the edge? I think my kids are gonna flip out in the morning. I’m not sure though, they may just be terrified. At any rate, I’m just about as excited as can be. I doubt I’ll sleep much tonight.
This is gonna be fun!

Grammie

SWMBO and I took the kids over to see great grammie Monday night. Twas her birthday.
Had a nice visit and Grammie was so excited, because Aunt Dee had printed out my race reports for her. That was very very nice of you Aunt Dee and I never would have thought to do it. She had it tucked away neatly in a ziplock bag (I’m guessing to protect it from the elements) and was going to let Aunt Shirley read it next. Well Aunt Shirley arrived soon after we had been there, and we had some cake and ice cream and potato chips. Aunt Dee even had the foresight to attach post-it notes in various places explaining things like “SWMBO” and “butt huts”. (giggle) Thanks Aunt Dee!
