Quality Candy Company, parent company of King Leo, has acquired Gilliam Candy Brands’ Paducah, Kentucky based hard candy business. The purchase agreement applies to certain assets of Gilliam’s hard candy business, including the Gilliam Paduke stick product brand name and specialized equipment that the company uses to make old-fashioned stick candies in a variety of flavors.
Gilliam’s stick candies, including Old-Fashioned Stick Candy, Old Paduke, Lil Paduke, Baby Paduke and Paduke Jr. mint sticks will be incorporated into Quality Candy’s stick candy business that includes nationwide distribution through all classes of trade. And according to both companies, the lineup of brokers handling the Paduke business will not change.
The deal “will bolster [Quality Candy’s] position as one of the industry’s largest hard candy manufacturers,” said Pierre “Pete” Redmond, Julian, California based Quality Candy’s founder and chairman
My favorite line: The deal “will bolster [Quality Candy’s] position as one of the industry’s largest hard candy manufacturers,”…
No doubt dude, you just bought “Old Paduke”.

Race report is posted here in stale format for the technically challenged - just click here or the “continue reading” link below.
But if you really want to make my day and check out my race report - geeked out edition, click here .
You will need Google Earth to view this file, you can get it here. It is free and really cool.
The report was made in Google Earth. There are 2 ways to partake.
I recommend: Once the file is loaded in your “My Places” sidebar you can open each folder and double click on each item down through to enjoy an interactive walk through of the marathon course and my report. Explore Harrisburg and make sure that the “Geographic web” option is checked so you can see pictures of a very pretty city.
You can also click on the main folder and press the play button at the bottom of the sidebar and it will take you on a “fly-by” of the course. As you approach certain features you can click on them in the sidebar and it will open them. I don’t recommend doing it this way, because you could miss some things. Enjoy!

The race report is coming very soon. It promises to be one of the most geeked-out reports ever. Because of this, it’s taking a little longer to get it prepared, but when it drops….oh boy is it gonna be something like you’ve never seen before.
Anyway, to make up for it taking so long, I figured I’d post a movie or something to entertain while I’m getting this ready. Oh, and my traditional post marathon pic.
The free hugs campaign rolls on:
